Fabulous Tulips, Portraits, and Painters at Roozengaarde at the Mount Vernon Tulip Festival

Do you like seeing beautiful rows of multi-colored tulips that stretch for miles? Then, grab the kids, your phone and a camera and explore the gorgeous flower gardens at Roozengaarde in Mount Vernon, Washington. Spring sprung early this year, 2024, and the tulips are huge and so colorful! When I was there this week with photographer friends from the Kitsap Photography Guild, we entered the gardens at 10 am and spent two hours roaming around the tulip fields. Here are some of my photos! Hope you like them and plan to visit the gardens too! Jolly Sienda Photography and Studio, Bremerton, Washington.

Poulsbo, Washington's Little Norway Provides Rich Culture and Fun for the Family!

Have you ever visited Poulsbo, Washington? It’s a Norwegian-style town settled in the late 1800’s by Europeans from Norway, Sweden, the Netherlands, and Germany. The town is known for its Norwegian old fashioned flair, vikings, colorful painted buildings, inviting boat marina, walk-able streets, restaurants, and shops. In the summer and winter there are viking festivals and art festivals on the marina. Families gather at the Austin Kvelstad Pavilion for picnics and in the summertime art festivals and musicians often entertain on the weekend from the pavilion. Liberty Bay provides a great area for boating, kayaking, water-sports, and a fireworks display over the 4th of July holiday.

Regain your Mental and Physical Strength by Enjoying Nature Through Social Distancing

In this time of change and worldwide awareness for our health and safety it's important to do our best to remain calm, take care of ourselves, and I believe get back to the basics of life. As you know, I recently lost Anabel, my mom, and I'm grateful she passed before the Pandemic. In honor of her life I took a few days last week to recharge my batteries and soul and to remember her legacy. I walked the beach, felt the wind on my face, collected agates and rocks, breathed fresh air, hiked, and enjoyed the comfort of natural surroundings. I'd like to share this now with you in the hope that it may brighten your day wherever you are - Jolly

The Bear Necessities by Air Boat and a Float Plane in Alaska!

Seeing spectacular scenery with friends in Alaska is a blast! Add a ride in a float plane, a ride on an air boat, and coastal brown bears looking for fish at low tide with a majestic glacier mountain background — what could be better, right!? This was an experience I will never forget! Thank you Rich, Karen, Eric, and our skilled guides for getting us close to the bears and wildlife life to photograph them in the wilderness at Cook Inlet, Kenai Peninsula, Alaska. Early Morning Light and Reflections and Low Tide Eagle Activity Equals Fun Photography

Get up sleepy heads! Don’t miss the best light of the day! Early morning and late in the afternoon or early evening is often referred to as the ‘Golden Hours’, so true for photographers at any level. Today, I had a blast playing around with my camera with my photographer friend Marlene. We photographed landscapes in the morning and Bald Eagles in the afternoon at low tide! Here’s a photo tip: If you’re photographing moving objects set the Shutter Priority on your camera to at least 2500. This will help you freeze the action and your subject will be super clear and crisp.

A Day at the Beach at Fripp Island and Exploring Savannah

There’s nothing like having your toes in the sand, the sound of the surf, finding seashell treasures on the beach, and exploring the antebellum architecture and historic squares of Savannah, Georgia, and Fripp Island, South Carolina. Our family has roots in both areas so every other year or so, we travel there to enjoy some family time and southern hospitality. Here are some favorite pictures of the trip featuring cultural photography and landscape photography of the Spanish Moss and the easy island lifestyle.

Skagit Valley Eagles and Nature Photography!

When winter arrives at the Skagit Valley, Bald and Golden Eagles, Canadian Snow Geese, Hawks, and other bird of prey feast on fish, worms, mice, and more at the barren fields that lay in waiting for spring planting. For many nature photographers seeing so many varieties of birds gather in one area is special.

Stupendous Ring of Fire Mountains in Patagonia's Chilean and Argentina Fjords

Have you ever dreamed of seeing the ‘End of the World’? Or, checking off those ‘1001 Things to See and Do Before You Die’? Our recent trip to South America and Patagonia provided us some of the world’s most dramatic scenery; unveiling places few ever see. The weather too, in this area, can change so quickly; from calm to ferocious gale force winds preventing ships from traveling around the Cape Horn or arriving safely in Port Stanley, Falkland Islands. Boy, did we luck out! In fact, the captain of our cruise ship said, “This is the calmest it has ever been, on my watch, sailing around the Cape Horn” The following images were taken on our journey. Happy Holidays!

King Penguins and Gentoo Penguins are at home at Bluff Cove, a family farm, owned by Hattie and Kevin Kilmartin, on the Falkland Islands. Photo trip to Columbia River Gorge for Autumn Color and Cool Photography Ops!!

Had a great time this past week exploring the beautiful Columbia River Gorge. We made the loop, driving on Highway 84 (Oregon) and Highway 14 (Washington) going to Maryhill, Washington, up to Hood River, Oregon, White Salmon, Washington, and too Trout Lake, Washington. Both Mount Adams and Mount Hood shined with new snow and the mountains were surrounded by beautiful Autumn color. Here are some landscape photo pics from the trip!

Autumn Nature Photography Where You Live! Sign Up for My Photography Classes!

I enjoy all of the seasons of the year. I especially love Autumn and its rich, warm, colors; red, yellow, orange, purple, and green! When I get free time in the early morning or late afternoon to go outside into nature I’m feeling a bit of zen. Our earth gives us gifts of paradise each day to enjoy. When I get to play with my cameras and lens I’m really in the zone.

I’ve traveled throughout the United States in search of beautiful colorful landscapes to photograph. There are many. But, in fact, some of the best and most beautiful natural landscapes showcasing Autumn color is where I live - close to my backyard.

Catching Autumn Color at Seabeck's Hood Canal

The sunrise, cool crisp air, crystal clear water, warm autumn color, fog layers, Olympic Mountains, seagulls, a fisherman taking his boat out to sea, tranquil and calm — this is what I feel and see as I look, linger, and take in the natural beauty of the Hood Canal, at Seabeck. Rich Autumn Color is Dreamy for Nature and Landscape Photographers

Look in your backyard and grab your camera! This is the time of year to capture autumns richest colors at their peak. In my Kitsap Peninsula, Washington backyard, we love our beautiful Red Maple tree. In fact, this photo is one of my best fine art photography print sellers! Everyone loves the oriental style tree line and the warm red color or the leaves. And, I didn’t have to hop on a plane and fly to New England to get this fall color!

I’m amazed at the variety of colors of the trees found in Washington State and throughout the West. From New Mexico to the Olympic Peninsula and Canada there is so much beauty! Americas nature playground provides a bountiful display for landscape and nature photographers.

Get out there and enjoy! Here’s my friend Rachel Zachary taking a walk along the burning Aspens along the Rio Grand near Taos, New Mexico. So relaxing!

Better hurry — the color won’t last long.
