I’ve dreamed of photographing a Dia de los Muertos, Day of the Dead, celebration of life and lives lost for many years. This year, on October 31-November 2, I spent time in Santa Fe, New Mexico in awe of the beautiful and touching celebration complete with offerings, ofrendas, tributes to loved ones lost, beautiful and creative sugar skull and skeleton costumes, local tribal indigenous peoples blessings, and moments where I too was touched by the understanding and meaning of loss. We’ve all lost someone. This beautiful celebration is my first and will not be my last. Proudly, my work as a photojournalist and photographer is so humbled by what we witnessed in Santa Fe.
