Lake Quinault and the Olympic National Rainforest, December 2025

Listen to the rain…the rain stops and then starts again. Moments of clearing, fog gently lifts from the Lake Quinault and rises and laces around the vast evergreen forest of the Olympic foothills canopy. Nature’s gifts surrounds us. Large yellow and brown maple leaves, lush green mossy ground, lichen hangs high and low from the evergreens and deciduous trees, birds fly and hop about, and listen to the rushing flow of water as it runs down the Olympic mountainsides filling creeks and some emptying into Lake Quinault. Stay dry and sit a spell inside the historic cozy Lake Quinault Lodge, built in 1926, and visited by President Franklin D. Roosevelt, FDR, in 1937.
