Fabulous Tulips, Portraits, and Painters at Roozengaarde at the Mount Vernon Tulip Festival

Do you like seeing beautiful rows of multi-colored tulips that stretch for miles? Then, grab the kids, your phone and a camera and explore the gorgeous flower gardens at Roozengaarde in Mount Vernon, Washington. Spring sprung early this year, 2024, and the tulips are huge and so colorful! When I was there this week with photographer friends from the Kitsap Photography Guild, we entered the gardens at 10 am and spent two hours roaming around the tulip fields. I remember stories my step-father told me of flying sorties into Malta during WWII. This year, I visited Malta, the island of Gozo and Valletta for the first time and both Rich and I fell in love with the people, food, architecture and the rich culture. Everybody gets stressed at times in their lives. Whether it be a divorce, job change, loss of family, or living in a Pandemic — life can stress you out!

Meet Kelly Sievertson, a licensed clinical social work and therapist practicing in Edmonds, Washington. Kelly came to me because she needed new images for her website and marketing materials. Our initial photoshoot took a couple of hours, both indoors in a studio setting with an office and lounge background, and outdoors, incorporating the Pacific Northwest’s nature, Kitsap Peninsula gardens, and waterfront. Here is a sampling of some of her new photos.

Our goal during this session was to capture Kelly in a approachable, likable way, while exploring the nature of joy and of trauma, which she helps people manage on a daily basis.
